On Sunday, April 21st, Dune Race which started the season of Pärnu Two Bridges Club, brought together a record high number of sports lovers to enjoy a sunny spring day. According to preliminary data, a total of 1420 sports lovers took part in the event: 729 runners, 153 Nordic walkers on timed distance and 86 on non-timed distance, 54 Canicross participants, 42 dog walkers and 356 children.

Locals triumphed on the 8.3 km long distance. With a powerful personal record 27.09, Karl Mäe (Altius Sports Club) won the race. Second was Timmo Jeret (Veloteek sports shop) with time 29.21.1 and third was Marek Nõmm, 30.04.3, representative of the sports shop Duncan.

“When one has the power then one must run,” Karl Mäe, who had just returned from a long camp in Kenya, said.

Among women, Anu Teppo (Anu Jooksutrennid) was the fastest with time 34.05.7. Liliana Torn, a member of Täppsportalsed, finished second with time 34.16.7, and Kadiliis Kuiv from Prorunner (34.47) came third.

“I myself thought that I would be completely out energy between the dunes. I am very pleased and surprised,” Anu Teppo praised her very good running form.

In cooperation between NGO My Friend and Pärnu Two Bridges Club a 5.4-kilometer-long Canicross took place for the ninth year in a row. Henek Tomson with Siberian husky Ellerdona Aglaia Hermes repeated last year’s success and won with time 18.44.2. Aleksandr Vassiljev (19.00,4) with his dog Greyster Cuba came on second place and third place was awarded to Tarvo Siim who completed the distance with his dog Beauceroni Frosty Charm Fute Fafnir (19.26,5.).

For the third year in a row, Astrid Mai Barsegjan with her running partner Siberian husky Ellerdona Thala (21.36.9) won among women. The owner of the second place was Merilin Jürisaar and Siberian husky Suusi (22.25.8.) who took the same place for the third time in a row. Marge Nõmm with Siberian husky Ducat (24.47.8) took third place.

Dune Race is the opening event of the triple event series of Pärnu Two Bridges Club. In addition, Jüri Jaanson’s Two Bridges Race (on September 1st) and Pärnu Beach Race (on October 27th) are held. Before these events in autumn, the Club invites all sports lovers to Pärnu County Victory Day Marathon (on June 22nd)
