It’s time to make sporty plans for the summer! Pärnu County Victory Day Marathon on June 22nd invites you to celebrate the beginning of summer with a sporty challenge! For the first time there is a 10 km distance alongside the marathon and half marathon – Pärnu Summer Run. Pärnu is in a festive mode because the summer capital brand celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The Marathon traditionally offers the opportunity to complete a unique distance, taking one through important historical monuments and introducing the beautiful nature of Pärnu County.

Marathon day will begin at 3:00 pm, when the start of the classic marathon is given in Tori. Those who find 42 kilometers challenging can choose a half-marathon distance starting at 4:45 pm on the Paikuse open-air stage. However, all the little runners will gather at the Independence Square in Pärnu, where children races start at 2:30 pm. The finish area of all the distances is set on Independence Square in Pärnu.

All participants of the marathon and half-marathon will be welcomed with a special design medal at the finish, this time dedicated to the place where the Independence Manifesto was first read – the site of the former Endla Theatre: a memorial is currently located at this place. In addition, marathon and half marathon starter kit includes a Craft shirt with the race symbol.

First Pärnu Summer Race

With a 10km distance, we are happy to please these running and walking enthusiasts who are not yet ready to complete a longer distance. The start will be given at 3:45 pm from Paikuse and will finish at Pärnu Independence Square. All finishers will receive a thematic medal at the finish. At the same time, the first summer run will be significant, as this year marks the 25th anniversary of the birth of the summer capital as a brand.

“Summer in Pärnu is probably the best known domestic brand in Estonia and where it would be more symbolic to celebrate the beginning of summer than in the summer capital. It is also symbolic that we celebrate the 25th anniversary as Estonian summer capital this year. As organizers, we do not leave a message that a marathon and a half marathon are a viable option for everyone without sufficient preparation. Therefore the summer race has a role to play in expanding the reach of running as a hobby, ”said Vahur Mäe, the chief organiser of the new race.

The e-marathon will come again

Between June 18th and 24th the virtual marathon enables one to complete either 21 or 42 km distance at any time and place. An e-marathon is a good option for those who would otherwise miss the Victory Day Marathon. A medal will be sent to all participants by post.

Each participant of the e-marathon will donate € 3 of the entry fee in support of young aspiring young athlete Jasmiin Üpraus.
