GENERAL INFORMATION
The aim of the activity of non-profit association Kahe Silla Klubi (Two Bridges Club) in Pärnu is to promote the idea of a Two Bridges jogging route running along the banks of Pärnu River, to develop this route and to organise the annual Jüri Jaanson’s Two Bridges Run.
In the future, the entire Two Bridges route will be an illuminated jogging track of four metres in width for both amateur and professional athletes. As a voluntary association, the club aims to connect people and organisations to create the Two Bridges jogging route.
Jüri Jaanson’s Two Bridges Run first took place in 2001. The running competition, named after the legendary former world champion in rowing and winner of the silver medal in Beijing Olympics, is a popular public sports event, the track of which overlaps with the Two Bridges route. The number of participants and the event’s popularity has gradually increased over the years and the competitions’ quality of organisation provides an example for many other major sports events organised in Estonia.
Jüri Jaanson’s Two Bridges Run has become a valued trademark and does a great deal for introducing Pärnu as a healthy city, contributing to promoting the city’s image. Success has inspired the team of the Two Bridges Club to ensure the continuity of the run and make efforts to achieve and maintain the event’s high standard so that participants from abroad would talk about its quality in their home country.
To expand the selection of common sports events the club is actively organizing two more running events: Rannametsa Dune Run and Two Stadiums Run. These two, along with Jüri Jaanson’s Two Bridges Run, form a popular triple event.
